The EMD JT42CWR and JT42CWRM are a type of diesel locomotive with electric power transmission manufactured by Electro-Motive Diesel (EMD). The JT42CWR, or Class 66, is now used for freight trains virtually throughout Europe, primarily by private railway companies such as HGK/Rheincargo in Germany. The locomotives are approved for operation in Great Britain, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Poland, and Romania.

Starting January 1, 2009, EMD launched a lower-emissions variant known as the JT42CWRM or Class 77. While the performance profile remained virtually unchanged, additional fittings resulted in an additional weight of nearly 5,000 kg, which was partially offset by a reduced tank volume. The noise- and emission-reduced design features larger fan shutters and an additional fifth door due to the partial elimination of a side aisle.
